Yes, today I am going to write about Chris Gayle whose real name is Christopher Henry Gayle. He has a big name in cricket which is spreaded all over the world. But making of his name was not easy, It included his struggle, passion, love and sacrifices. Let us know some more about him.
Childhood
Christopher Henry Gayle born on 21 Sept 1979 in Kingston, Jamaica. They were six siblings and Chris was the 5th among them. His father Dudley Gayle was a Policeman while his mother used to sale peanuts for extra money to run the household. He spend his childhood in poverty even they lived in tin roofed house. His parents were not having any relation with cricket but his Grandfather was a famous cricketer he had played in many club matches.
From picking garbage to International Cricket
For himself and his family Chris started to picking garbage and empty bottles from streets and by selling it he used to manage his requirements and his family requirements, later he also stolen some time, Due to lack of money he completed his studies only upto 10th standard. He was always interested in Cricket, So he joined Lucas Cricket Club,Jamaica. By seeing his talent he got chance for debut in first class cricket at just 19 years, But his starting was not that much effective which was expected by him.
Fought against Heart Problem
This is the reason that he struggled for next two years to fixed his place in team, Then he did comeback with grand records. In Nov, 2002 he scored three centuries in a series against India. Due to which he got famous all around the world. In 2005 while playing against Australia and south Africa he felt some dizzines and shortness of breath due to which he came out of ground. After went for checkup he knew that he has Cardiac Dysrhythmia heart problem. Then he had a risky heart surgery.
After surgery he became more friendly and started living his life with fun and happily, One of his favourite quote is "Life has given to us-only once so whatever you want just do it because you will never get another chance" Live every moment of life. His batting also improved which resulted that he became the best player of the tournament in 2006,Champions trophy. Then he scored 117 runs in World T20 2007 against South Africa, By which he become the 1st and only man to hit the century in ICC T20 match and this remain unbeaten till 2012.
Entry in IPL(Indian Premiere League)
Chris career in IPL started in 2008 when KKR bought him but he didn't play that year because of West Indies vs Australia series and further domestic matches. In 2009 and 2010 he did not performed well in KKR. Later RCB bought him in 2011 and from here he started to grow in IPL, He scored two centuries and most runs in tournament in 2011. Last time he played from Kings XI Punjab.
Records made by him
He has so many records by his name, He is the only player who hit 10,000 runs in T20 format, He hitted 326 sixes in his IPL career after him AB de villiers has hit 213 sixes and on 2nd position. In test matches he hitted 98 sixes and 331 sixes in ODI matches. Highest score made by any individual player in T20 format is 175 runs NotOut which is also registered on the name of Chris Gayle against Pune Warriors India. He has also scored 215 runs individually in a single ODI match. Now time he is known by one of the biggest hitter in cricket history, and biggest batsman in T20 format. He struggled a lot for his successful life it took lots of effort to put him from Roadside to Palace. Many time when he talk about his past he got emotional, Now he has a beautiful family and they are living happily.
